ITVBe to close in June 2025 as reality programming moves to ITV2

ITV has announced that the ITVBe channel will close in June 2025. Following the closure, its current channel slot will be rebranded as ITV Quiz, a new destination for quiz and game show content. The new channel will build on ITV’s extensive catalogue of popular UK quiz formats.

Reality content moves to ITV2

As part of this transition, ITVBe’s reality programming will move to ITV2. From June 2025, series such as The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), The Real Housewives of Cheshire and international versions of The Real Housewives franchise will have a new home on ITV2. These titles will continue to be available for streaming on ITVX.

The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) cast

The shift consolidates ITV’s reality offering on ITV2, which also broadcasts Love Island and Big Brother, both returning in the summer and autumn respectively.

A special 15th anniversary series of TOWIE is scheduled for autumn 2025, marking the show’s return to ITV2, where it originally aired its first 12 series.

ITV2’s lineup will also include returning series such as Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends, alongside animated titles like Family Guy, original series including G’Wed and Transaction, feature films, and factual entertainment programmes such as Olivia Attwood’s Price of Perfection.

Streaming and audience growth

Digital engagement with ITV’s reality programming remains strong. ITV reports over 2.2 billion streams for Love Island and its spin-offs, more than 100 million streams for Big Brother since its ITV return in 2023, and 66 million streams for TOWIE over the past year.

ITV2 continues to perform well with younger viewers. In 2024, Love Island reached its 400th episode and remained one of the most watched programmes among 16-34 year-olds. In early 2025, ITV2 surpassed Channel 4 as the most watched digital channel among that demographic.

New commissions: Sam & Billie return

New additions to ITV2’s schedule include Sam & Billie: Sister Act. The series reunites Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd, marking Sam’s return to television following her departure from Sam & Billie: The Mummy Diaries in 2021.
