After a five-year hiatus, Big Brother will be returning to the UK later this year. Whilst no launch date has yet to be confirmed, it's rumoured that it will hit our screens this Autumn on ITV2 and ITV's new streaming platform, ITVX.
The reality programme aired for 18 years in the UK until it was axed in 2018. Based around a group of strangers known as 'housemates', they lived together, isolated from the outside world, with their every move monitored by cameras and microphones. The social experiment quickly became a cultural phenomenon with millions of viewers tuning in to see the drama unfold.

Adapted from the original Dutch Big Borther format created by Endemol, the show started life in 2000 on Channel 4 before Channel 5 took over in 2011. It was axed 7 years later due to a decline in ratings.
Two new hosts
It was announced this week that there will be two new hosts for the forthcoming series - AJ Odudu and Will Best. The pair will share the iconic hosting role on the main show, presiding over the weekly evictions and quizzing housemates on all of the goings on in the world’s most famous house. The duo will also host an additional nightly live show debating all the hot topics inside the house.

Brand new look
ITV hope to return the most-talked about reality show in UK’s history, to its former glory days.
Paul Mortimer, director of reality commissioning and acquisitions and controller of ITV2, ITVBe and CITV, said: “This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience.”
Casting is currently ongoing with ITV looking for the nation’s most interesting and entertaining characters from all walks of life, all hoping to bag the huge cash prize.
